Bad News

Wendsday night I got the news, after we descided that it would be best to not go on the mission trip after all that my grandma had passed away from complications due to lung cancer.

We took the 2,000 mile trip for the funeral (in 40 hours packed in a van nonstop). and on our way back we're visiting family members. In fact, I'm writing this at a family mermber's house right now. I'm hopiong to be back soon this week.

Eye probelms

Going to a local lenscrafters saterday I found out that there is a scar on my cornia, so I now need a cornia transplant some time in my future. I've been mostly blind in my left eye as long as I can remember. I don't remember any accidents or illnessess that would have effected that eye.

I thought this was going to delay my trip, but it looks like I'm most likely just going to get glassess for my one good eye and go on wendsday as planned.

Cable, and still nothing to watch...

We got cable today, which is kind of cool. It means a faster internet connection which is nice, but it also means 90 some channels to watch, thus I'll probibly be watching more tv and working and sleeping less.... (I'm mad at myself for Staying up unti 1:30 last night to watch "Inyu Yasha" and part of "Wolf rain" ;( )

Well, only 1 week to go uintil my big trip. It's funny that I don't feel like my life is any different now, I mean I''ve got a lot of stuff todo to get ready, but I don't really feel like I'm going anywhere. I'm in a sort of state of disbeleif, and I know it's all going to hit me hard the day I leave for the airport.

I never though I'd be writting a blog - my life is just not interesting enough for anyone to care about reading about it, but I figure at the very least this is good practice for "rants" when I finally finish my webcomic that I'm working on.

Welcome, Welcome

Well, hi. This is my very first post in my blog. (I know, what a great start) This blog is mostly to keep in touch with everyone I know who live far away and keep in touch with my family as I travel to the phillipines.

Anyways, I have a website for misc art, poetry and other things I'e created at www.foolster.8k.com .

I'm both pretty exited and nervous about my trip. I mean I'm going to at least a 2nd world area (if not 3rd world.) and I'm going to be away for 7 months! This means I'll miss Thanksgiving, Christmas and my borthday as well as two of my siblings birthdays. Also I've been hearing all kinds of interesting "horror" stories about a recent trip a friend made that has me maybe a little nervous. I'm hoping I never have to use a "squatty potty".

On the other hand, while at a dentist apointment recently, an assistant who was from the phillipines says the area I'm going to, Cebu is very pretty and that the mangos are good. :)

Well, that's all for now. I'm leaving on the 17th (a week from wendsday) so that's just 11 days to go!
