Wedding Acomplished

Well, my sister's wedding is over. It was very nice, beautiful wedding. In a way though it's kind of nice that it's over, no more planning and work for those who worked so hard on it.

It was really nice to see everyone who came out. We hung out and we showed them the sites of Seattle while they were there, some of them new even to me even though I'd been living the in Seattle area for about 9 years. We rode the tram down town, They went to the top of the space needle, we went through the underground tour and generally looked at the sites of Seattle.

One of my relatives got us the game "Apples to Apples" which is a great game. Players basically take turns being a judge that draws out a verb card. players then choose a noun from their hand that best is described by the verb and the judge chooses the best one. The game play is very simple and casual. Everyone kept laughing, and even those who weren't playing were enjoying it. Also game play is fairly quick. I highly recommend the game.

It was kind of gloomy the entire weekend, and the day after the weather was very nice and sunny and clear. Go figure. I'm afraid Seattle seems to keep up the "always grey and raining" stereotype whenever friends and relatives come over.

Anyway, My little sister's all grown up now, though i was reminded that I'm not loosing a sister, just gaining a brother.

"Yahoo betrayed my husband"

"Yahoo betrayed my husband"
http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,72972-0.html

FAIRFAX, Virginia -- Early one Sunday morning in 2002, a phone rings in Yu Ling's Beijing duplex. She's cleaning upstairs; her son is asleep, while downstairs, her husband, Wang Xiaoning, is on the computer. Wang writes about politics, anonymously e-mailing his online e-journals to a group of Yahoo users. He's been having problems with his Yahoo service recently. He thinks it's a technical issue. This is the day he learns he's wrong.

Wang picks up the phone: "Yes?"

"Are you home?" asks the unfamiliar voice on the other end.

"Yes."

The line goes dead.

Moments later, government agents swarm through the front door -- 10 of them, some in uniform, some not. They take Wang away. They take his computers and disks. They shove an official notice into Yu's hands, tell her to keep quiet, and leave. This is how it's done in China. This is how the internet police grab you.

Like this author said, this is how it's done in China. It is sad to see companies like Yahoo and Google doing business with one of the most tyrannical modern governments on the earth. Now next year china's going to be making millions from thje Olympics. The Olympics committee should have never allowed China to be even considered for hosting. What kind of message are they sending? The Olympics is about being part of a "global community", and China is hardly a good example to look up to with an unknown number of political and religious prisoners who are being tortured (including sexual abuse). I'm boycotting the Olympics, and I'm urging my family and friends to do the same.

This article on the human rights watch site hits dead on with China's strategy. It should be fooling no one, but appallingly, it seems to be working.

More examples here of abuse, and this is dated 2 years ago! Googling I can find no cases where the UN took action against the so-called "People's Republic".

The international community needs to encourage China to stop being a brutal totalitarian state and actually allow freedom.

I'm not usualy very political, but this is something that's been on my mind.

Wedding aproches

My sister's wedding is getting really close Hopefully the whole planning thing will go well. It all seems very overwhelming to me, but it looks like it's in good hands.

Actually, there's going to be my brother's wedding fairly soon too. I guess it's wedding season or something.

Ando saves the day! (Heros)

I was hoping and expecting to find Ando come back. I'm a bit disappointed that two of my favorite characters are probably going to die. :(

As much as nicky is mostly an innocent bystander, I wouldn't mind seeing her die in order to stop Jessica (Of course, being able to lock Jessica up would be better.)

Right now I think my favorite characters are:
-Hiro
-Petter Petrelli
-The Doctor
-The Psychic Cop
